Inspired of excavations realized in Mondeville, in the old village of Saint-Martin de Trainecourt, the Small Farm is the first building made in the carolingian space, in 2013. The walls are made with cob, with a stone base for the isolation. The wood frame is covered by thatch, the most economic material at the time. The combination of thatch and cob gives to the building a good thermical isolation, wich permits to warm it easily with a small fire inside. This kind of building was the most simple for this era.
